Middle East Residential BIPV Project: 432 Solar Tiles

October 30, 2026

432 Triple-Arch Hantile solar tiles cover the full roof of this Middle East residential villa — no racking, no separate waterproofing layer on top. BC cells sit behind the glass. The battery and inverter are GOODWE units, integrated with GreenMore tiles rather than sold as a single-vendor package.

432 Triple-Arch Solar Tiles with BC Cells

The tile is the roof. Each Triple-Arch Hantile unit interlocks with the next along aluminium alloy edges and sheds water like a conventional tiled roof — except that every tile also generates. The three-curve profile carries load across the span, so the assembly handles wind uplift and foot traffic without a support frame. This breakdown covers structure and installation.

BC cells move all busbars and fingers to the rear, leaving the sun-facing surface free of metal grid. On a small tile face that gain counts for more than on a full-size module, and it gives the roof the uniform dark face the client wanted. The same platform also comes with thin-film and TOPCon cells. GreenMore supplies it to EN 14782 and EN 1090-1, with CE marking, Class C fire rating and a 25-year linear power warranty.

15 kWh Battery — GOODWE

The battery is not ours, and that is the point. This project runs GOODWE storage, so the roof was designed to feed GOODWE. 15 kWh carries night-time base load — lighting, refrigeration, pumps, routers — and bridges the outages still routine in parts of the region. It will not run whole-house cooling off-grid. The array connects to a mainstream hybrid platform without a proprietary gateway, so a site already running GOODWE drops the roof straight in. GreenMore also makes its own stacked battery where a single-vendor package is preferred.

15 kW Hybrid Inverter — GOODWE

One 15 kW GOODWE hybrid inverter takes the DC string, manages the battery and feeds the house. The roof breaks across several pitches, so multiple MPPT inputs matter — each face tracks its own maximum power point. String layout and voltage window were matched to the inverter at design stage, which is where third-party integrations either work or quietly underperform. Where a single-vendor package is preferred, we supply the 6–15 kW three-phase hybrid platform.

Why This System Fits Middle East Homes

  • It works with equipment you already trust. The tiles integrate with mainstream hybrid inverters and battery brands — a client standardised on GOODWE keeps that standard.
  • Heat is the design driver. Back-contact cells and a double-glass laminate help the tile hold output past 60 °C, where conventional panels quietly lose yield.
  • Dust settles differently on a frameless tile. No raised frame traps a ridge of sand along the bottom edge, and the three-curve face sheds what lands.
  • High irradiance suits a compact active area. Direct normal irradiation here is among the highest anywhere, so 432 tiles return a useful yield from a modest roof.
  • The roof reads as architecture. Blue framed panels are a visible compromise; a tiled roof that generates is not.
  • Storage covers the generation gap. Cooling load peaks in the late afternoon, after the roof stops producing.

A near-identical approach was used on the 407-tile Netanya project in Israel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can GreenMore tiles work with a non-GreenMore inverter and battery?

Yes, and this project is the proof. The tile array is a DC source like any other — what it needs is string configuration matched to the inverter's MPPT window and voltage range. Send the inverter datasheet and we will return a string plan. No lock-in.

Why BC cells rather than TOPCon on this roof?

Both run on this platform. BC puts the metallisation on the back, leaving more active area on a small tile face and a uniform dark surface — usually decisive on a visible roof.

Does the roof still work as a waterproof roof?

Yes. The tiles interlock along aluminium alloy edges and the electrical junction is IP68 rated. No membrane sits above the tiles and no hardware penetrates them — weatherproofing and generation come from the same layer. The assembly has been through the frost, heat and UV cycling covered in long-term outdoor testing.

What happens to output at 45 °C ambient?

Output falls as cell temperature rises; that is physics. Double-glass resists the thermal cycling fatigue that shows up in polymer backsheets.

Can 15 kWh run the house overnight?

It covers night-time base load comfortably. It will not carry whole-house air conditioning through a summer night. Size from a measured load profile.

Can the roof be expanded, or fitted to an existing building?

Storage can be added at the DC bus and the inverter supports expansion — plan additions against the original single-line diagram. On a renovation the old covering is stripped and the tiles take its place.
